The mission of Leadership Kitsap is to educate, prepare and connect a new group of committed leaders for community involvement in Kitsap County.
Accordingly, its programs are designed to help participants acquire not only a fuller sense of the wide array of critical issues affecting the Kitsap community but also the skills necessary to motivate and engage others in collaborative efforts to resolve them.

Founded by the Kitsap Chambers of Commerce and the United Way of Kitsap County in 1992, Leadership Kitsap incorporated in 1993. The first Leadership Kitsap class with 13 members convened in September 1994 and graduated in June 1995. As June 2010, Leadership Kitsap has graduated 363 servant leaders into the community.
| Leadership Kitsap strives to achieve these goals: |
| • |
To assist emerging leaders in business, government, and the community to expand their skills in and commitment to voluntary civic responsibility. |
| • |
To provide these women and men with an understanding of major public policy issues facing the Kitsap community. |
| • |
To enhance communication among leaders from diverse backgrounds and interests. |
| • |
To facilitate access between emerging leaders and the leadership of the Kitsap community. |
The legacy of Leadership Kitsap is alumni who represent a community that is geographically, racially, and professionally diverse. They emerge from the ten-month program with a deeper commitment to civic volunteerism. They work together to provide the leadership needed to address the challenges ahead.

The Leadership Kitsap Board of Directors sets the tone, vision and mission of the organization; it has responsibility for managing and conducting the business of the organization in ways that assure its financial stability and continuity, including its curriculum, policies, and the recruitment and selection of program participants.

Leadership Kitsap Strategic Plan
Earlier this year, a group of current and former Leadership Kitsap Foundation Board members met to develop a strategic plan. The group first worked to establish a set of guiding principles. These principles included: meeting Kitsap County's leadership development needs; incorporating servant leadership values into non-servant organizations; and increasing class and Board diversity.
Next, the group brainstormed a list of subjects that it felt were necessary to consider in developing a future vision for the organization. For instance: Whom should Leadership Kitsap target for class members? What is the optimum class size? What skills could LK offer a non-servant leadership organization in the community? What would the most efficient business structure of the organization be?
To complete its work, the group prepared a list of recommended initiatives for the LK Foundation's Board to consider.

Leadership Kitsap Fundraising Plan and Levels of Giving
Leadership Kitsap welcomes the opportunity to establish partnerships with individuals and organizations and we would like to encourage your financial contribution. Your gift will support our students who represent a community that is geographically, racially, and professionally diverse. Our graduates emerge from the Leadership Kitsap program with a deeper commitment to civic volunteerism, and with your support we can provide the leadership needed to create positive change in Kitsap. We have several funding levels for your consideration; please see our website for details and to make a contribution.
